My father's founding of this store had an influence on my brother Barry's direction into music and later on mine.
- Terry Silverlight
In 1948, my father (and a partner) opened The Bandstand Music Shop in Westfield, New Jersey. He stocked the store with "records" (mostly jazz) which he brought home for my brother Barry to listen to who was one year old at the time. My father relinquished his share in the store a year or so later. The store moved to another location in Westfield, was renamed The Band Stand and stayed in business until at least the late 1970's. My Uncle Walter taught piano there for many of those years.
